Fix It Friday

Our Maintenance Classes will be two Fridays a month, with a half hour to one hour classroom meeting starting at 9:00 a.m.  till about 4 p.m.  From the classroom we will move to the boat we will be working on and proceed to start our day’s project.  We’ll be working in a variety of sailboat maintenance areas including rigging and deck hardware, plumbing and electrical, fiberglass hull and deck repairs, lighting and ventilation, to name a few.  On occasion we may meet at the boatyard to work on through-hull fittings or paint. Learn new skills or hone the ones you’ve already got.  There’s always something interesting to learn while maintaining the fleet!  Check the calendar for each session’s project!  These sessions are free to sailing club members, and there will be a $100 charge per day for nonmembers.

  • January 27: Learn about bilge pumps!  We’ll install a new electric bilge pump in our Catalina 27 Wyvern.
  • February 10, 11 & 12: Boatyard haul out, install knot meter transducer, replace zincs, check prop and cutlass bearing, and then paint the hull. This is a multi-day class.
  • February 24: Deck and window leaks, replace windows, rebed deck hardware and seal cored decks with epoxy.
  • March 10: Fiberglass deck and core repairs.
